New developements at 3twins.net

I know we have had a large slow down in the release of new content on 3twins.net, but that doesn't mean we have stopped working on everything. First, we are hard at work on the 5th anniversary issue of Hatman & Indigo, which will be a two issue story centered around Hatman's birthday. Most of the comic is completed; Jason and I are editing the audio track with the comic pages, and Steve is working on a variant cover for the first part. It's a suprise, so you'll have to wait and see what it is, I'll just say, I'm very excited to see it!

In other 3twins.net related news, we are still working hard on our audio version of Star Fetched. It's a lot of work to take a story that was written with visual characters, locations and gags, and bring it to life with only sound, but we are confident the end product will be something you will enjoy. Our goal is to have a new podcast of Star Fetched on a regular basis, that you can listen to on your computer, phone, or other mp3 players.

Lastly we are working through ideas to change the menus for our stories. I know the Midieville menu was often confusing, and our Hatman comic rack is full and only going to have more content as the months go by. So look for our new formats as they arise.

As always we are open for suggestions and feedback.

Where's the "let's play" videos?

I decided that I would make a update about our Mario Galaxy 2 videos and why they seemed to stop a couple weeks ago. Well, we are going to get back into recording them, I have just been very busy with school. My Algebra class was really weighing down on me so I needed to focus on that and the Mario videos just took a back burner. Lexi and I will be doing more of those very soon.

Also, we will be doing a cold playthrough of the Gamecube game, The Legend of Zelda: Four Sword Adventures. Andy recently purchased this hard to find game online and is letting me borrow it. What do I mean by a "cold playthrough?" Well, I have never played the game at all, so everything we record will be my first reactions to the game. This means that it may take several videos for me to get through challenging puzzles or find things, but it will be a true first time experience.

Although this game is designed for up to 4 players, I will be playing it alone with Lexi only making comments. The decision to do this is based on a couple of factors, the most major of which is that multi-player requires the use of Gameboy Advances (GBA) for each player and I can't record the separate GBA's and the main screen. But if the game is played alone, all of the action takes place on the main screen so nothing is lost. The other reason is that Lexi just isn't that into playing games enough to be able to keep up. This may seem mean, but she is only 4 years old and from what Andy has told me would really need to know exactly what to do at all times in order for us to progress through the Zelda game.

However, Lexi will play a crucial role in my experience through the game! I have red-green colorblindness and many of the puzzles and challenges in this game are color based. While this might not be that big of a problem in some cases, the colors happen to be green, red, blue and purple in this game. Why purple instead of yellow is beyond me. Anyhow, my particular colorblindness can make it difficult for me to distinguish green and red from one another as well as blue and purple from one another. I will probably complain about this during the videos as I expect it to be frustrating. However, Lexi is not colorblind and actually loves helping me distinguish colors, so she will be a valuable asset!

Artist Perspective

This is my first time guest blogging, so I’ll try not to ramble too much.

I was an artist for two of the Halloween issues this year. Working on the Halloween special was a great introduction to the world, since so many of the core characters were in the comic. Check it out if you haven’t already:

Now that I’m starting to get a handle on the cast, I’m working on a new issue, that (not to give any spoilers away) features almost all the main recurring characters in the series. Totally epic.

Two of my favorite characters are Billy Boy and the Amazing Aquatic Kid. I think there is something very interesting about two children playing heroes in a world of adults. In the Halloween Special, Regular Man jumps in a moment from his adult super hero from to his actual identity: Billy Boy. All because he wants to go Trick 'r Treating with the Aquatic Kid. This is a hysterical scene, but it also shows that no matter how mature Regular Man behaves, he is still a child. Which inspired the just for fun picture of the two featured in this post.

It has been such a wonderful experience getting to be an artist for Hatman and Indigo. Not just because Three Twins are great people to work with, but because the Hatman universe is such an exciting sandbox to get to play in : )
